Tonight I made some soap... I had used some of the mixture to fill a few special molds, and wanted to pour the rest in a wooded box soap mold. Well, I didn't anticipate that there wasn't enough of the mixture to fill the entire mold, so using a spatula, I scooped it to the left as much as possible, and then inserted my slicing knife in between the slits so the soap would set perfectly. A few hours later, I took the knife out and it looks... stained, possibly corroded (but not badly... it's barely stained).

I double checked the material (I purchased it on Etsy) and the metal is recycled galvanized metal (mostly likely steel).

My question is, is the soap okay to use at this point? Can I slice the ends off of the soap block and feel like all is well?

Usually galvanized means it's been coated with zinc. Lye reacts with zinc.

You could just cut off the parts where the knife came into contact with the soap and the soap should be okay.
