I've noticed that some bath bomb recipes have cornstarch in them. What properties does that add to your bombs? Also I've used olive oil in mine and it made my skin greasy after the bath. Any suggestions?

I know that in body butter, cornstarch cuts the oilness. But in bath bombs, I'm not sure.

By the way....know where one can find borax? I have another recipe for bath bombs that calls for borax.

i have seen it on some soap supplies sites. I have also seen it in supermarkets as a laundry detergent. i wonder if thats the same thing. I'm too new to all of this to know

Where I live Borax is in just a few grocery stores. A number of hardware stores will have it as well. Here all Ace hardware stores have it. About $5 for a good size box.

I don't know what exactly the corn starch does in a bath bomb....but I'll bet it does help cut that greasy feeling left on your skin from the OO....I think even just the SOUND of cornstarch added to a bath bomb sounds wonderfully soothing....

I'm getting ready to make my first bath bombs (well, not exactly bombs, I don't have big round molds, mine will be smaller, 2-3oz. individual soap molded ones) and the recipe I decided to use ( costalscents version on youtube) does not call for cornstarch, instead it calls for koalin clay. That also sound nice to me.

I'm going to try these in the morning, then I want to make what I refer to as a 'bath OIL bomb, or fizzy". Just a smidge more oils/less dry ingredients....don't know how it'll stay together though....

Thanks for the info!! I think I will try some on my next batch of bombs!!
