I guess this may be a silly question, but I wanted to make some lotion bars and have a nice way to present them. If I buy a round metal tin that says it has a 3" diameter and I use a mold that has a 3" diameter, will my bar fit into the tin? I mean, do the lotion bars shrink - even a little bit? Theoretically, the bar would be the same size as the container and therefore, it would not fit into the opening. Any thoughts on this?

Just pour the lotion bar straight into the tin and let it cool.

i have done this and can NEVER get the bars out to use. i end up tearing them apart :?

You don't get the bar back out when you pour into the container. You dip/rub your finger in it like you would a pot of lip balm or a jar of vasaline.

To the OP, I would use either a smaller mold or a larger container. Sounds like the lotion bar will get stuck/wedged in.

I think it would also get a little dinged up unless cushinioned with something, in which case you could use a larger container and have more room to work with.
