Grated 4 old bars that were perfectly fine but had been unmolded too soon (ugly) and added it layer by layer (trying to get in incorporated throughout) to my sister's cranberry orange soap. I really hope it turns out.

I am a very, very messy pour-er :D

I'm trying really really hard to wait til morning. It's agony.

I already unmolded and ripped the very bottom edge off these:

I. Must. Be. Patient.

Sooooooo hard to wait.

Hopefully when I start selling and have who knows how many molds full at any given time I'll be able to get my "have to see what's inside" fix easier lol

Not exactly what I was hoping for but not nearly as many air pockets I feared I'd get. Weird spots of color that I can't see in the actual bars. At least the curls hide the ash.

I think it looks great! It made me think of the little shells half buried in the sand when you're walking along the edge of a lake's beach.

Thanks Hazel! You know, you're right, it does kind of remind me of that now that you mention it.

When I first cut it, I thought to myself, "ok that's it, I'm changing the business name to "Ugly Soap" with the tag line: The Ugliest Soap you'll ever love!" LOL My soaps work so nicely but man, I cannot get them to look like I want. I'll have to work on this one, it has potential :)

I think it's a very interesting effect. I think it would work well if you made it with a water type FO - like Cool Water.

Stick a corcodile embed in it and call it "Lake Placid".

Amy I think your soap looks lovely ~ reminds me of dessicated coconut, I wouldn't mind making a soap that looks like this with a coconut F/O :)

Your soap has turned out really well!

I have some soaps that I need to grate and do something with ... thanks for this idea!
