Hi,
I just started making shampoo bars but not finding much info on Conditioner bars>
Does anyone have a good recipe or can direct me in the right directions. Just don't want anything that weighs the hair down.
Thanks.

thanks. it is very interesting but these ingredients i have never heard of... seems so technical. i thought like shea butter, some oils etc...
i guess it's not that easy!

Yeah, if you use all oils, butters, your hair will be very, um, oily.

I've never made a conditioner bar, (I make a regular type conditioner) but you can add or delete ingredients according to what you like--and you can start off simple if you want.

I think you could start with the BTMS and cetyl alcohol with an oil and a butter and a preservative. then you can figure out what your hair needs and add ingredients as you see fit.

thank you. i guess you right -maybe that will help to simplify things. I just wanted like a bar of soap -oils, butter, etc...
but i really like the idea of a conditioner bar...

I recently made the one on Susan's Blog mentioned here. I used the one she posted for Normal to Dry Hair. Love it! You should give it a go.

if it's just oils and butter without an emulsifier then you'll not get it to rinse out - you'll just have oily hair that you then have to shampoo to remove!

Susan's blog is amazing. The ingredients aren't that complicated and she explains those throughout her blog - so if you can spend significant time there you may find you understand more than you think.

Good luck.

My conditioner bar is based on Swifts blog and it is very nice. It is pretty light, and might be just what you are looking for. It sounds complex, but is really easy to make, and you can simplify by leaving out the extracts and proteins. Follow Swifts advice and you'll never go wrong!

I LOVE poo bars and conditioning bars. The great thing about conditioning bars is you can rub it over your hair once or 20 times depending on the amount of conditioning your hair need. I think Susan has a really basic conditioner with just a couple of ingredients. Also she has an ebook that is fantastic. You can get it off her site for a small donation to her Youth Group. Great book and wonderful cause!

thanks everyone. i am going to go over there and do some research. great info.
