I want to make a few cocoa butter soaps with enough cocoa butter that they smell like chocolate as I've made some before and love the scent. I recently made a batch with around 25% cocoa butter and just a hint of peppermint oil and they smell like chocolate mints. This is the new recipe I'd like to try and would like comments or suggestions before making it:

Cocoa butter soaps (20% superfat): 50% coconut oil, 30% cocoa butter, 5% palm kernel, 5% palm, 5% castor, 5% shea butter

I was wondering if I should do 40% cocoa and 40% coconut instead? Anything else you think I should change before making a batch? Do you think 20% superfat is to much for this recipe?

Thanks

The coca butter smell doesn't last much longer than the cure, so I'd add a cocoa absolute if you want it to still smell chocolatey in the long term.

Have you made this at all? Does the SF counteract the high CO? Is there a particular reason for the addition of the PKO as well as CO?

If you drop the CO, I would up the palm - too much butter can hinder lathering. Maybe putting in some sugar in addition to the castor is an idea, but then also watch out for overheating - a lot of CO and the sugar might well be a hot little mix! When I made my 100% CO soap, I was amazed by the heat, so a 50 or 40 % might well also be a bit warm

Edit - and seeing the above post, if the scent doesn't last from the butter itself, I would reconsider it in general - but it is well documented that I am not a fan of butters in soap
