Hi all,

I have been making CP soap since November (I did MP before that) but I much prefer CP to MP and have now settled on a "base" CP recipe that I am happy with. I am thinking of combining CP and MP in a batch soon simply for aesthetic reasons. I have searched online and found some posts through the Brambleberry site on combining the two but I am wondering if anyone here has done this and what sort of problems they may have encountered?

I have had sweating problems with MP in the past (humid climate) so I am assuming that this will apply somewhat to a soap that includes it. I am also wondering if there are any other problems I may encounter?

TIA

I saw this video a while back. I think she said there weren't any problems if I'm remembering correctly. I don't have any experience myself so I can't personally comment on it. But I thought I'd link this video in case you haven't seen it. :) You could probably message her and ask directly too?

I've been wanting to try this too, with M&P embeds in CP soap, but unsure if the two kinds of soaps would wear differently with use. I'd hate to wind up with a lumpy uneven mess with protruding embeds if, say, the M&P parts lasted longer than the CP as the bar was used up.

Would love to hear others' experience!

I've seen successful "topping" with mp embeds. I've seen Edens Secret do it a few times, seems to work well for her.

I believe that the Soap Queen once indicated that you can embed m&p in CP if you first "dry out" the m&p by having a fan on it for some amount of hours.

I have a soap from another soaper which has a MP embed in the middle of the bar. The CP is pulling away from the MP as the bar ages. Its about 4 or 5 months old now. Doesn't look very good IMO. But it could be her formula or the MP base she used just doesn't work well embedded in CP.

Thank you everyone. That's exactly the sort of info I was after. I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it so I might make a small batch up and see how it goes. I will post pics and results once I've done it and I will keep some for 12 months to see what happens over time.

ETA: I've found a few tutorials combining the methods on youtube now and they do look pretty out of the mould,it the longer term I am concerned about.
