colorant question

hello all. I am just starting out and I have a question regard colorants. If a colorant says to use 1 tablespoon per pound of oils, do I use that amount if I am wanting to swirl?
How about with two colors? One tablespoon of each or half tablespoon of one and half of the other?
Also, I would love to hear what colorants people use and why they like them. Thanks!

I'm sure that means you use 1T per pound that you're coloring. So if you are coloring 1/2 of a 4lb batch, that's 2lb = 2T.
