Just made a batch using the 50/50 split method with coconut milk/water using the full 38% for my liquid.

I like to gel my soaps to make the colours pop but will insulating this cause it to overheat?

Maybe insulate as usual and check more frequently?

Some people leave them open... I personally would insulate, but keep checking on it. That's what I did with yesterday's beer soap, and it didn't even gel.

Well I had it covered for a little while but I'm out for the night now so daren't leave it covered

I cover and gel all my soaps. They are all made with some kind of milk (buttermilk, coconut, goat, cream, half & half). I don't usually have an issue with overheating. The exception is with a FO that runs hot in gel. I just keep a eye on those.

In a situation like that I preheat the oven, then turn it off, put the soap in and stand and watch it go through gel completely. Take it out and put it in the fridge. Then I could go to sleep.

Since Coconut, Almond, Soy, etc. milks are not a dairy product wouldn't they be soaped the same as if using water? I haven't tried the vegetable "milks" but would like to know for future reference. Thanks.
