Made these with coconut milk and used spirulina for the green color. It over heated a bit and cracked across the top leading to having to cut faster then I wanted and the bars are a bit uneven.
Coconut lime scent with 50% salt.

Ooh, love them! Does the spirulina keep its color for you? Mine always discolors so i stopped using it-but i haven't used it with salt. Hmmm...

Oh i forget now how long it took but i think it was a couple months at least, it was quite a while ago. They turned a brilliant orange. Makes sense because spirulina is loaded with caratenoids, but not what i was going for.

Those are awesome. I love the colors, the idea of the salt and it sounds like it smells wonderful/

Those are pretty bars! I am going to try a salt face bar. I use spirulina too. Mine always turns a tan color after a few months. Especially if they are anywhere that any light can get to them. So I usually store them in a dark room.

Thanks everyone. I was nervous about trying a swirl with salt but it worked out pretty well, I'm happy with it. I store my bars in the closet once they are good and dry. Its no big deal if they do morph since I don't sell, I'm more concerned with the scent sticking.

Your salt bars look awesome! I really like how your swirls came out. Does the spirulina have a noticable scent in your bars? I've got lots of it (DH bought it during one of his weight loss efforts and won't touch it) and was wondering how it would be in cp.

My bars are heavily scented but I didn't notice a scent when I was making them. I just smelled the powder and it has a very faint, earthy smell. It doesn't taste very good though, kinda like moldy hay and it made my tongue green.

Interesting bit of info. I put my soaping bucket outside to cure before washing and I forgot about it this time. I brought it in so I could soak and clean it, the once green batter turned a nice orange color. I might set a couple of my bars where the sun can hit them in the morning, see how fast they change.

They look lovely! I really like the way the green looks, like a river stone. Great swirl too! So want to try salt soap, but our humidity is through the roof and I think I'd be asking for trouble.

So pretty!

Spirulina is not a stable green. I put a bar out on the porch this morning and in only a few hours, it has changed to a orangey color. Would have been very disappointed if these were for selling.

Oh bummer. I was hoping the salt would stop that. They are beautiful swirls though, so i bet even if they do all change orange, they will still be beautiful.
