Coats for Cubs

Has anyone ever donated a fur coat to Coats for Cubs?

I know the Humane Society is a great organization. I'm assuming the deduction is tax deductible. Looks like a good cause.

They use the furs as bedding for orphaned and injured wildlife.

I've got fox coat that I won a couple years ago. I wore it once, it gave me nightmares, my kids threw tantrums and I put it into storage and never looked at it again. I like the idea of it going to good use.

What do you think?

DD and I are going to go into the city, DC, on Monday. While we are there we are going to drop it off! I will be so happy to have it gone.

I was feeling kinda torn that I should sell it and then just donate the money to the homeless, but I want to help the HSUS. I like the idea of getting the furs off of peoples backs and this works for me.

Make sure you get a receipt or the deduction will be disallowed.... Sounds like a nice thing to do. I have never heard of it before.

OK, so we did it. We had a girls day and went into DC and somehow managed to not get killed or lost, and still we found the HSUS HQ.

The guys there were super helpful and took us down to the basement where they handle the coats before they are sent off to the rehabs. My DD did an article about it for the Vibe with a pic of the horrid coat.

I highly recommend it for anyone with an old (or new) fur they don't want.
