Hi soapmakers...

Has anyone ever donated to "Clean the World"? Do they accept artisan soap? I make several batches a week and I have around 40 people who I give soap to routinely but I still have tons of soap. I was thinking about donating some of it. I have no intention selling as of now. I just like to have fun and I love making soap, but its pointless to have a million bars just for myself.

Yes, they are a wonderful organization.

Another option is a local homeless shelter or church or community center that collects supplies for the underprivileged. People think about clothes and food, not so much about basics like soap.

And good for you for wanting to put your hobby to such good purpose!

Another idea is a Children's Advocacy Center/Rape Crisis Center. I'm a sexual assault nurse examiner so I see people in crisis after sexual assault. One of the things that's very important to provide our patients is new everything - clothing, toothpaste & toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. It's an important emotional support issue that we don't provide "used" items to people who feel "used". Most CAC's offer showers to people after the physical examination so a lovely, handmade bar of soap can be very comforting. I take my extras to work just for that purpose.

Thank you for all these wonderful ideas! I will be doing some research on these ideas. I appreciate it!

From what I can tell, Clean the World does not accept handmade home soaps. They want hotel partner donations only.:) I have lovely rebatches that will need to find another home.

I have donated my soaps to Clean the World two years ago and I am planning to do it again. May be it's just me but I haven't received any confirmation of receipt of my soaps from Clean the World.

I donate my soaps to elderly apartment on Christmas day. Occasionally, I gift to terminal ill patients.

Really? I did not know that. No wonder I did not get any some sort of receipt from them.

But then, I just checked on their website and they do accept hand made soap:

Do you accept soap from soap makers?

Yes. We are happy to receive the soap scraps, misshapen bars and any soap shavings and remnants that may be left over from soap production by homemade soap makers. We will make them work for people in need. We have many soap makers across the United States who currently support our lifesaving mission by shipping soap bars and soap remnants to help Clean the World. Every little bit helps.

Our local Salvation Army runs a homeless shelter, and requested "hotel sized" bars. A phone call before you bring stuff will often give you specifics of how best to help them.

Yes- Clean The World accepts handmade soap. I always send my misshapen bars to them whenever I collect enough of them to fill a large flat rate box.
