Its the weirdest thing. When I pulled the soap out of the mold, it was a creamy light tan color . . . it sat on the counter and turned orange. I cut the tan-orange log into bars, came back later, the inside of the bars turned purple-ish! Who knows what color these are gonna cure to!

At least I have two bars with a cool swirl ;)

The color thing is wierd. But they look awesome. What are the ones in the back? They look yummy :)

They look really, really nice.

I have read that vanilla changes the colour. Did you have vanilla in the recipe? I am still a recent soapmaker though, so I am always leary about what I write unless I have personal experience.

Ian, I resorted back to my Pringles can ;) Except I lined with parchment paper and prevented gel (which made all the difference)!

Fweda, those are my coffee soaps in the back! They will be done curing this Sunday :)

I've heard that about vanilla too, April. But I only used Baker's brand dark chocolate . . . that's why the color change confuses me.

Why did you not want it to gel and why does this make a difference?

All my soaps are Goat Milk based. Through this forum I learned that you shouldn't gel GM soaps because they easily overheat and crack, etc.

My first batch I let sit on the counter and it volcanoed on me! My last three batches I prevented gel by placing freshly molded soaps into the freezer for 2-3 hours then into the fridge for 45-46 hours.

When you prevent gel, it makes your soap turn out a lot lighter and less translucent. But it also takes longer to firm up enough to cut and cure.

I learned all that from this forum!!!
