Okay, I'd rather post my nice soap pictures, and you'd probably prefer looking at those, too. But my first partial gel turned out looking rather funny, so I thought I'd share. My hubby saw it and said, "What is that? That looks like an egg in the soap." My response was, "I dunno, I'll need to find out."
Talk about an ugly novice soap.
My first attempt at 40% lye solution didn't go so well, either. Luckily, though, no obvious zap in the crumbly areas. I also think that I may have cut too early. As soon as I poured the raw soap into the mold, I placed it outside where the temperature was about 35-40 degrees F.
Is it common to see such a prominent line between the gelled and non-gelled areas?
