I bought the turkish mocha fragrance from BB and wanted to try to soap that would look like cappuccino.
Well I did not realize the fragrance will color the soap so dark. So the layers will not show once cured I think

I tried to cut it too early and it crumbled a bit so I had to wait few more days. Just cut the rest of it. The bars that were already cut got super dark. I had it in the fridge for 4 days and it still gelled I think. Or partially gelled. Not sure.

it smells great! I tested the ph and it is 10. However, I see little white dots here and there, could that be undissolved lye?
There is also white powder like thing on the sides, it almost feels like it's greasy. It can be smeared off with fingers.

It seems like I can never get the results I m going for. I might try m&p instead of CP. Cp just seems so hard to me.

It looks good :)
Without knowing what's in your recipe, I can't say whether or not the white spots are lye or just hardened butters/oils. Did you test them for zap?
As for the white on the outside, it looks like ash to me.

I really can't do the zap test. I am just too scared of the zap lol so I test my soaps with ph strips.
here is the recipe I used
I did melt the palm oil and stirred really good before weighing it

Here lately I have been going onto ppls website who sell cp soap. I see lots of soaps that have little white spots in them that are being posted for sale. If your sugar didn't completely dissolve that can cause the white spots. The white on the outside looks like what Genny said....soda ash.

Now take a step back and look at your soap. It is beautiful, and I bet it smells out of this world.

Right?! I thought I was losing it, I've been seeing a ton of soap for sale w/spots.

Any way I like the looks of your recipe in terms of number. I've never soaped w/ cocoa butter but I've read it can cause speckles. One other thing, the GM. It can be tricky to completely dissolve your lye when using goat milk. Straining your lye solution can help.

I think it looks great...and I bet it smell just as good :D This is one of those fragrances that I have been wanting to try.....one day :)

thank you everyone for being so encouraging! I think it looks ok, the white dots look like if you took needle and pricked the soap but instead of a hole you have tht white whatever it is. I might try to take a close up picture tomorrow and see if it will show.

BUt I think it might have been the sugar, it was not completely dissolved when I put it in. I didnt even think of that!
I added the milk at trace, if that makes any difference.
I think I am so frustrated because every time i try something goes wrong. With this soap I messed up the lye water twice before I got it right the third time, so that's lye that just went down the drain because the water got cold too fast and I couldnt dissolve all the lye. Happened twice. So finally I used luke warm water and stirred like crazy. It was just so upsetting

I went out and bought m&p base at Michaels today but after reading the ingredients it looks like it's full of chemically stuff. Might return that :/=

When I started out I made 3 ok batches, then six flops in a row. So I understand your frustration. But don't give up.

I used that same fragrance oil this past weekend and a similar recipe with the exception of no sugar and no goats milk and I have the same results...same kind of odd cream colored areas where there shouldn't be and the sides of the soap look very similar. I had mine outside in 25 - 35 degree weather and still got a partial gel as well...which I was trying to avoid... (However tonight's soap I am trying to force a gel so of course, it won't gel at all!). It did darken very fast after I cut it but I had read to expect that so I did veins of gold mica through mine...it looks good, but like you, had some things I wasn't expecting! The first pic us right when I cut it, the second is from tonight, 24 hours after cutting it!
Your soap looks great! I like the cream on top!
