Hello all,
I joined a couple of days ago after just discovering this forum, yay! I don't know what made me start making soap, but about a month and a half ago I started with my first soaps, and I can't stop making them, hah!
I was on a thread lately on this forum, and saw this yellow sort of cutter. They said they sell them at Lowes. I forget what it was called, maybe a sheetrock cutter if I remember correctly? Does anyone think this rings a bell? I need to cut my soap straight and that looked like a good way of getting the job done.
Anyhow, great to meet all of you!

I got a miter box and it's nice--but I also use a small square (looks like a metal and/or plastic L, or a "speed square" is a triangle, and is sold near the miter boxes) with it too, since my soap is taller than the miter box. I line the L up with the slicing slot on the miter box and guide the knife into the top of the soap.
