Canberra soapies - sharing transport cost/freight charges

Hello all,

I am relatively new to the soapmaking industry but I have noticed that delivery cost when sourcing raw ingredients are heftily burning my pocket.

Does it help to buy in bulks from different suppliers?

Otherwise what are some of the freight options for small business in regional town like Canberra?

I have thought of driving down to SYD to pick up the ingredients myself - others suggested starting a small biz account with freight companies, etc. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Yes, it would help your costs by buying in bulk. Most suppliers already have their own freight companies that they send their goods by, so I don't think you can source your own and do it that way. I don't think driving up to Sydney would be cost effective given the cost of petrol and it would be a 7 hour return trip just driving and that's without the picking up part.
