Does anybody know if you can use foil trays as a mold for CP/HP soap. Should I line it with something? Is wax paper ok? It would be great, because they are cheap, so you can just throw away after you are done every time. :)

Anything made out of aluminum will immediately fall apart and make nasty fumes if you put unfinished soap in it. The un-nueatralized lye eats it very fast. I would not use them, not even lined.

Thanks for advice, because I already bought it - i will just use it for cooking :) and for mold I will use wood or glass

:? Glass doesn't really sound like a good option to me; wanna keep it cheap; look for silicone, cardboard boxes lined with flexible cutting mat, and plastic containers.

glass really doesn't work unless it is absolutely completely lined. soap does NOT like to let go of glass, even with mineral oil or some other unsaponifying oil - and it's not flexible so that makes it even harder.

no to aluminum
no to glass/pyrex

yes to fully lined wood
yes to fully lined cardboard
yes to pringles cans - with the caveat that tube containers tend to overheat so don't insulate it

I've been using a shoebox lined with saran wrap. I use scotch tape to hold the saran wrap, and haven't any problems yet.
