Hello all, I am new to this site and am preparing to make our first batch of soap next month. I found that you can purchase expeller pressed coconut oil on Amazon - 5 gallons for $99. Is this suitable for soap making and is this a good price? Thank you for your assistance.

i believe you can use that, but that is too much money, you can get 8lb for 14.80, 50 lbs for 72.50 at oils by nature or wsp or soapers choice. you dont need a quality o oil for soaping, go to superwalmart and look for some then you arent paying shipping, dont get the organic one by spectrum, look for luanna brand its 5$ per container.

Those are all extracted with solvents, tho - so if someone was trying to avoid that then expeller pressed (assuming they are not lying, and they probably are) is the way to go, and that is a decent price for expeller pressed.

Watch out for shipping costs, tho.

I could swear I answered this. I must be losing what little mind I have left.
