This was supposed to be castile soap:
700g Extra Virgin Olive Oil
210g water
90g NaOH

Everything went to plan. Traced nicely. I tried to CPOP, but it started to rise so I took it out of the oven -maybe a partial gel?

I was expecting just plain white... ImageUploadedBySoap Making1397562655.052750.jpg

wow, i've never seen that effect before. my castile batch that i did with evoo turned up with a slightly greenish/yellowish hue. were you using a silicone mold?

Yes, a silicone loaf mold. What could have caused the patterns? It was a single oil, nothing fancy at all...

as for the color, i have to agree with TEG, coz my evoo batch ended up being similar to yours (greenish/yellowish color).

i don't suggest CPOP-ing with silicone mold, unless you're willing to watch it like a hawk all the time. it can take only minutes for the soap to rise and all is ruined. been there, done that.

as for the pattern, hmmmm... you said it yourself that the soap was starting to rise, and you took it out of the oven. maybe that's the cause. who knows what was happening down there. i'm a bit baffled myself. sorry can't help you more here. perhaps someone more experienced will chime in.

I agree it's very pretty :) I'd love to take credit for it but I have no idea how it happened!

Happy that no one has said that it has turned into poison and I have to toss it.

Very nice looking. Which mold were you using if you don't mind me asking? I have a bar mold but the bars don't seem to match the size of yours.

It's just a silicone loaf mold. I've cut it into bars. This soap stuff is pretty amazing....
