Hi,
I'm looking for some info on different emusifiers. I've read an article that says every emolient gives a different product & feel and would very much like to hear about that.
Thanks!
Dagmar

The only other one I have tried is BTMS-50, which rocks! It gives you a more conditioning feel. I have seen others that sound really interesting as well. Would love to hear what others have to say.

I have used polysorbate 20 and emulsifying wax, both with good results in my emulsified sugar scrub.

Ashley, How did those feel on your skin? Where they at all sticky, did the scrub leave a residue in the bathtub/shower and have you noticed any difference in the endproduct between the two of them?
Which one did you perfer?
Sorry for the heap of questions...
I'd hate to have to import several emulsefiers from the USA :p
Thank you both!

I would like to know as well. I am making sugar scrubs this week and I think I like the idea of an emulsifier in there, otherwise it could be a very sticky thing (not that I am sure as I never tried them before)

I have some melon seed oil which I decided was way too precious to waste in soap and I want to make a sugar scrub for a teenager with acne from it. Emulsifier would do nicely.

The one I am looking at is this one, will that work ?

INCI: Polysorbate 80

Polysorbate 80 is a water-soluble, non-ionic surfactant and O/W emulsifier. Frequently used in both the food and cosmetic industries. Can be used to as a solubiliser for essential oils and fragrance oils, as a wetting agent and dispersant. Added to bath oil blends, melts and other similar products, it can help to disperse the oils more evenly.

cheers
Sabine

If memory serves....wasn't polysorbate 80 the one for foaming agents? (is your sugar scrub foaming?) and polysorbate 20 for non-foaming agents? Mind you, I can't say I'm an expert on body scrubby stuff, but melon seed oil sounds lovely!

ah, my scrub wasn't going to be foaming, or at least I wasn't looking for it, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if it was.

So basically foaming or not is not important. I am just feeling that I don't want sticky oil slick, hence me ordering 3 different emuslifiers to play around with.

I have now:

Polysorbate 80
E-Wax
Cety Alcohol

hmmm, the witches pot will be busy this week

Can you add polysorbate 80 to a face serums ass well? But taking about emulsifiers...i love Natramuse, woks really well!
