I scored a gallon jug of Kroger corn oil in the clearance corner
because it doesn't have a lid. ($5.99)

How likely is it that this would cause the infamous and dreaded DOS?
Or should I fry some chicken for dinner instead?

You could do both. Use some of the corn oil in soap and also fry some chicken for dinner which sounds wonderful to me - can I show up for dinner?

Corn oil is very conditioning but I'd suggest not using more than 10% since it can eventually become rancid. Also, there are links at the bottom of this page to more discussions about corn oil if you still feel concerned about using it.

Well, thanks for the compliment but I don't think I'm the best.

I have salad plus I have cheapo wine which I can bring. You don't want to drink it because it's nasty. But it's great in soap.

I meant to mention earlier I was wondering about corn oil in soap. I saw it at Walmart and considered buying it since I had recently read a comment about oils refined for food tend to be more stable than cosmetic grade. It has to be more stable to allow for a longer shelf life since they sit on the shelves in stores. Then I decided to pass it up for now since I had other things to buy and not much cash with me. So, I've very interested in hearing how it turns out for you.

I showed my husband AA's single oil soap page and he really wants to do single oil with corn, and single oil with peanut oil. I want to do single OO :) Guess who's going to win this one.

No, it wasn't. I was just joking and I don't remember now what I used in my last batch except that it was a Cabernet. This is the main reason I didn't show up at Smee's...besides that I ate all the salad.

Did you see the results on single oil soap? http://www.zensoaps.com/singleoil.htm
Yep, I had him look at that too!

Oops, just another reason to study up on those pesky fatty acid profiles and how they effect soap. Study, study, study.
