I have what might be a dumb question & I'm sorry if it is. I'm browsing online for butters, trying to figure out what I want to try in my CP soaping & I'm seeing that cocoa & shea butters are offered in both refined & unrefined. Which one is recommended for soaping?

Either one. Personal preference. FYI, unrefined shea has a nutty smell and unrefined cocoa butter smells like chocolate. The chocolate doesn't come through the CP, at least at 9% or less which is what I use. But I swear I can smell the shea butter if I don't scent, and I don't particularly like it. I get it refined. I use organic unrefined cocoa butter in soap, but refined in lotion bars cuz I don't want them to smell like chocolate.

Thank you. I'm probably just gonna use refined. I don't particularly like the smell of either, but I didn't want to make lesser soap. Good to know that I can though..
