i was thinking
if sugar and honey works, why not brown sugar and maple syrup.
anyone ever try these?
and whould they give the soap there scent and color?
the more i think about this, the more i want to try it.

I think they are all forms of sugar, the same as soaping a fruit or fruit puree

I always use brown granulated sugar. I have not noticed any odour or colour in whipped soap, so I would imagine it rather depends on the oils you use in addition to any other additives.

I have never tried Maple syrup, but Honey definitely imparts a beige colour and slight caramelly smell to my soap.

hmm
wonder about a maple extract
left out for the alchohol to evaporate of course

I am definately interested in a brown sugar/maple soap. I hope someone here makes or has made it.....cuz I want details.

Peaks has a Maple & Brown Sugar FO but it says 'Not for use with soap or skin care products.' Bummer.

I have tried maple syrup in CP soap. At 1 tsp ppo, it made the soap softer, and a tad sticky.

I would forget about the Maple syrup (unless you like sticky soap) :)

I've used maple syrup at 1t ppo in a couple of batches and had no problems with stickiness. The stuff's too expensive for me to use in every batch, I only used it in those for the novelty since they were oatmeal soaps scented with brown sugar and maple FOs, but it worked fine.

Tess, do you have a brown sugar and maple FO that you especially like? I've been wanting to do a maple, also, but am having trouble finding one.

No ma'am, not yet. The ones I've tried so far have either morphed or faded badlyin CP, so the search continues. The brown sugar from WSP ws the most recent and it did both, it faded out to almost nothing and the faint scent that's left smells nothing like it did oob. :(

I'm going to try Daystar's brown sugar next, it's supposed to fade at first and then bounce back, so we shall see.

tried one with dark brown sugar, honey, real apple and apple pie spices
was going for a sweet apple pie scent all natural, no fo, yet
just cut it this morning
so far you can realy smell the brown sugar and slightly smell the honey
no real apple pie scent noticeable yet
smells good enough to eat though
the consistancy is of firm rubber and it lathers well
