Hello all! Hope you've all had happy happening soap soaping.

I made a double batch of soap last weekend and half turned out fine:

This is my peppermint foot scrub and it is wonderful!

But my other batch turned brittle and crunchy. It crumbled when I cut it. Could it be the FO that I used? I know that the lye water was a little warmer than usual, but only a few degrees warmer. Plus, I think that I only got a partial gel on it, but I don't know how to tell or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Well, the good news is that I was able to upcycle the crumbly stuff and I made this with it:

This is on some paper that I made.

HOLY SOAP!!!!!

I can't believe how pretty those are!! The top one reminds me of good 'n plentys, and the bottom one is really unique!!! I'd totally buy both of those!! I like the choppy chunks look. The paper is gorge too - what's the long wispy green stuff? It looks like asparagus tops or something. Love 'em all!!!

Thanks! LOL That's awesome!

The green whispies in the paper are wild fennel fronds from my yard. I also put poppy petals, rose petals, rosemary and just about anything else I could find in there. L;)L

(BTW... I will probably have them in my etsy store in a month or so...;))

Nice- did you use ground coffee in your scrub? Looks lucious!
and good save on your brittle one- very attractive!

Thank You! Yes that is ground coffee. I couldn't decide whether or not to use cornmeal, so I compromised and used coffee. It kept the peppermint from becoming overpowering.

I also forgot to mention that the black and white one is my first layering attempt. The Shea butter* that I added at trace accelerated it and made it easier to layer.

*Edit:I originally said Hemp oil. This however was a mistake, I meant Shea Butter. oops lol :?

Really love them both! I like your use of peppermint and coffee together. Great job! :)
