Do you sell your soaps in a box, or without?
Do you you have more then one price point?
Do you buy your boxes from a soap supplier or a wholesaler?

These are some of the decisions that my sister and I are being faced with now that we are officially a business, as of last month, YAY!

Hey there almost neighbour - I use a variety of packaging methods depending on where it is going to be. For my retailers I box it since it allows them to place where and how they want to display it. For my retail I plan on moving more towards the organza bags for a lot of my products. I'm working on having my packaging on being "green" and leaving as small a footprint as I can. I have also used coffee filters to wrap my soaps.

Congrats on being officially a "business"! Are you going to do it full time? Where are you planning on selling? I will start being "out there" next month retailing and wholesaling!

Hi ohsoap - I am only just starting down that path too. So far I am boxing the ones that fit in a box  .......my pricing is based on average gram weight of each bar from each batch of soap then my markup. I went to my first market last weekend and found that both the boxed and unboxed with cigar band labels sold equally well. I did have a sample of the boxed ones sitting out on show though. My boxes are sourced from a soap supplier currently, though as I said I am just starting this.

I just hate the idea of having to charge more to cover the box of the soaps, but I think for gifting it looks the best.

don't know what to do.

I use a 2 piece clear PET box. For CP the boxes have small holes in the side to allow air flow and lets you smell the soap. When I use them for salt bars with clear tops there are no holes, sealed with cello tape.

I use shrink wrap and labels go on front and back. The shrink wrap are Dan's Wraps from MMS. This keeps the soap covered with the sides exposed so that the bars don't get all beat up from handling and customer can still smell the soap scent. At craft fairs, I sell naked and a description and ingredients listing are included with each sale of soap bar.
