Hi,

I am looking to make something very similar. It was discontinued some time ago.

I was reading and figured that I might approximate it using the following ingredients.

Shea Butter
Sesame Oil
Sesame Fragrance.

Does anyone have any good recipes for this style butter. It does not have to be sesame, i assume I can use the same base and substitute the fragrance.

Thanks in advance.

You can take any body butter recipe and use the shea butter and sesame oil. I just made one last nite with 63% butter, 34% oil, 3%IPM, 2% cornstarch, 1% Vit E, and 1% FO. You can make it without the IPM and cornstarch, but I wanted to cut the greasiness of the butter. For my butter I used mango, and oils I used avocado and hemp because I wanted a "drier" feeling butter. Turned out great!!
hope that helps!

The Body Shop body butter isn't an anhydrous products; it's a thick cream.
You'll have a water phase, oil phase, emulsifier to bring the two together and of course since it contains water, a broad spectrum preservative.

I'd read up on basic lotion making and adjust the recipe to your needs by including sesame oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, glycerin and cyclo.

Please clarify for me.

When making body butters you can have mixtures that total over 100% as in the above example.

Please clarify. For lotions it is important not to go over a 100% total mixture (water, oils, EO, preservatives), right?

Thanks

I apologize. My formula I typed was off. It should equal 100%. Apparently I forgot how to count that day. LOL The butters should have been 31% and oils should have been 32%.
