I LOVE the tea/coffee idea and the bars are lovely! Nice job and very impressive!

I can't wait to get playing! Sometimes, living in the boondocks is a real inconvenience, but would not trade it!

Looking great!!! :D You just reminded me I wanted to get a coffee kitchen bar done.

that soap looks sooo good I think I can actually smell the coffee!! I bought a bar of soap here in town, of all places the local hardware store (where I get my lye) and it had grits add into it for a scrubby feeling. I loved it....great kitchen/gardner soap. I wasn't sure what they were??

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Grits?!? it's similar to cream of wheat. Popular breakfast food in the south. Served with butter and sugar. I can see it being a great scrubbing agent. You just gave me an idea for a new batch of soap.

I consider myself as living in the semi-boonies. Sometimes it's too far out and at others not far enough.

I hate to admit it.....I had heard of them, but never ate them. But they do make a great scrubbie. I bought some myself and thought it would make a good hand soap for the gardner. I guess thats what this is all about....good ideas

What are those dark specks? Coffee grounds or tea leaves? Or both?

That is a nice looking bar of soap. I am also inspired to make my first coffee bar too. I can't decide between instant coffee or ground coffee. Any suggestions? I want to make a small 1 lb batch too.

Thanks.

Update: I actually found a recipe online from Pine Meadows for a coffee bar. For 1 lb batch, they use 6 oz of double strength coffee (and add grounds for texture). I suppose they add the lye to the 6 oz of coffee since water was not listed.... :?

Those sepcs are black tea. If you want specs use ground coffee, the instant coffee will desolve.

Yes, you use the coffee as the liquid and add your lye to it. I use a one lb recipe, too.

12 oz lard
2 oz coconut oil
2 oz soybean oil

2.1 lye
5.7 liquid
