Black colorants

Hi Soap Friends,

Every year I make a black soap for Christmas using Nurture Soap's "Three Wise Men" and stamp a gold stamp of the 3 Wise men on the front in gold. (see pic) So for some reason, I don't have notes on what I did the year before last, but last year I used a pretty even charcoal/black mica blend. I had a customer tell me that her soaps bled onto her washcloths, whereas they didn't do that the year before. So now I have to figure out what made it bleed - was it the charcoal or the black mica? I'm guessing that I only used 1 of them the first year, and that is why it didn't bleed?? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Wow, those are just awesome! For me, it is the charcoal that bleeds, whereas black mica does not. I usually mix it with black oxide for a little more black, and haven't had any bleeding issues.

I used to have terrible bleeding / dark grey lather when I used AC, but since using black oxide the issue has been minimized.
