Dear soapmaking community,

Please, help me to find big molds and dishes to make soap.
I cannot find any long molds (wooden box and silicon liner) on line or on Amazon. I see such long rectangular molds only on Instagram, some soapmakers use them. But where can I buy it?
Could you also recommend big dishes for soapmaking, where do you buy them? I went to Costco and several stores and cannot find any big dishes.

Thank you!

Nurture Soaps has some pretty large molds and imo their wooden molds and silicon liners are some of the best out there. They are not the cheapest but are beautifully made and you will have them forever so worth the investment. I prefer to line my molds with freezer paper over using silicon liners personally but I do own one of their molds with the liner and it’s fantastic.

I go to order 2 long rectangular molds.
Next... I need huge mixing dishes that will fit 4.5 lbs.
You'd have to mind the plastic, but storage tubs could work for the full batch, and batter can be sectioned off into large mixing bowls or Tupperware containers for layers/ swirls etc.
I imagine you'd gave to melt your oils/butters in a separate container, since I can't imagine getting anything big enough to hold 5lbs of batter in a microwave.

Oh, I almost forgot, Amazon sells plastic pitchers for laboratory use. I get some of the smallest ones in the lines because I make small batches, but I absolutely love them and they're very inexpensive. There might be some sized right for you.

If I remove the glass turntable, then leftover coconut oil pails that hold 5000g just fit into my medium-small microwave for melting the hard oils. This allows me to measure and melt my hard oils, add my soft oils, add my lye solution, and mix in one container.

Molds: Nurture Soap has the best buy for 5 lb loaf molds. For slab molds, Workshop Heritage with some large 25 and 32 lb molds.

Mixing Bowls: Wash tubs from the Dollar Tree. Seriously, I’ve made 14lbs of soap in one. It has rounded corners so all your batter gets evenly mixed, it has a low profile and the top is rounded over making it easy to pick up and pour from a corner.

There are many many vendors that sell large capacity molds for large production soap makers. If you watch any large production soap makers on youtube, they often list the name of the supplier for their molds, so that's one place to look. Ariane Arsenault is one such youtuber who does large scale production and uses quite large molds. I will link one of her videos below.

Here is an article about getting started with large scale production, which has suggestions for molds, mixing vessels, etc:
https://www.modernsoapmaking.com/production-soapmaking/
And here is another article addressing what types of soap molds there are for every level and she lists a few suppliers from different categories.

Here are some suppliers I've seen who sell large scale molds:

More are to be found on Etsy: Etsy - Shop for handmade, vintage, custom, and unique gifts for everyone

I've seen others, but don't really keep links to the huge capacity molds because I have no plans to ever make soap on such a large scale.
