Cheapest I found was on amazon. Had to buy 64 oz and may have found some lower buy a penny an ounce if I needed a gal which I did not. Do need enough for free shipping or it is mute point on price.
I will be interested in the responses I get from this thread. Walmart 6 ounce in my area was .44 cents per ounce and I did not beat that by more then ten cents an ounce buying bigger volume. Don't have any ideal how good a person might do who needed more then just hobby level volumes.

Locally, check in the Pharmacy -- Soops, Walmart, Target, Walgreens. They usually have it in small sizes, 2-8 oz. If you need a larger size, Soapers Choice has a gallon size at $20 + shipping. It's best to buy more than one oil at a time to save on shipping. I usually buy 4 products to spread shipping cost over all.

Some Asian stores around here sell it (as “massage oil”) for some 0.70€/oz (ETA: 250 mL bottles). Not the cheapest, but a fair option if I'm in a brick-and-mortar store shopping mood.

(Why has this thread the “shave soap” tag? I know plenty of non-shave soap recipes that profit from castor oil) Someone almighty has fixed it. :)

I buy mine at my local family-run health-food store. They sell it in 32 oz bottles. My local Whole Foods and my local Spouts sells it as well, but in smaller 8 oz and 4 oz bottles.

I paid .344 cents per ounce at amazon for 64 oz but had to buy something else to get over the $25 purchase to get free shipping. I also bought 2 lbs of lye. So it all come up to about $35.98 bucks and so qualified for free shipping. I saw stuff fairly close to these prices on ebay. I did look at other places but did not find better yet.

I have Amazon Prime so shipping is not an issue. The last time I bought Castor Oil I bought a brand named Seven Minerals. It had a pour spout on the lid. It is amazing how much I love it as I almost CANNOT over pour the oil. I will probably continue to buy it just for the lid. Now I want them on all my oils ...as shaky as I am I probably need them on my water too!
I'm sorry but don't remember the price only that I bought 16 ounces and it was one of the cheaper ones without getting into the gallon size bottles.

Just thought I would add one more amazon comment to this thread. I just bought a watch and while there decided to get some more lye.

They had this thing that said if I used discover card bonus cash to pay with I could get 40 percent off up to 40 bucks if done before a certain time.

So my order for the watch and 4lbs of lye was 58 bucks. Amazon is bad for pushing prime membership hard and so I really try and be careful to watch what I push.

So anyway, it said I was going to get ten bucks for some reason and I did check to pay with my discover bonus. They gave me some other kind of bonus that I could not figure out what the heck it was but my order came out to zero and I am sure I did not join prime.

I type this so people know about the discover card thing and it being time sensitive but can't explain the rest.

I almost bought ten pounds of lye cause it was 28 cents per ounce and if I would have paid, I was giving 43 cents per ounce for 4 lbs. Guess it don't matter now though huh.

Some time ago I've got a bottle of Niharti brand castor oil (from a physical store). I'm regularly refilling it, because I love that spout so much! So much easier with it to pour that sticky goo, that you really want to avoid overdosing.
