I plan to create a few "blends" of oils and include them in my holiday gift packages. For example, I use rosehip and sweet almond oils for my face. I'd like to put the oils in an amber bottle that would make it easy for the user to dispense the small amount necessary for daily use.

Which size would you recommend for the face oil -- 2 or 4 ounce?

Should I get an amber bottle with a glass dropper?

How does the "orifice reducer" work?

What about the best size for a massage oil blend?

I've looked at Mountain Rose and SKS web sites. Any recommendations on supplier for bottles also welcome.

Any suggestions/ideas welcome.

Thanks in advance for your help.

All of this is just my opinion. I'd recommend using at least the 2 oz size. You don't know how long people might keep the face oil and the oils could go rancid before it's used up. I've usually seen face oil in 1 oz bottles or smaller. I like the blue eye serum bottle that lsg posted a link to and it's a nice size. Specialty Bottle carries them if you'd prefer an amber bottle. http://www.specialtybottle.com/amberbos ... lesmi.aspx

A massage oil blend would probably be all right in a 4 oz bottle. If it isn't used, there is the possibility of rancidity; but when it is used, people tend to use more of it.

I don't recommend an orifice reducer in a glass bottle because you'd have to shake the oil out onto your hand. It would be a little harder to control than a cap which has a dropper attached. (An orifice reducer is just an insert with a tiny hole in the center to close off a larger opening in a bottle.) I also think a cap with a dropper makes the product look more professional than an orifice reducer. However, an orifice reducer might be a good idea for the massage oil blend to lessen the amount of oil being squirted out if you don't have a flip top. You'd have to use a plastic bottle. I think it would be simpler just to buy a bottle that comes with a disc top. Then you wouldn't have to buy an orifice reducer and a cap. Here's a link to an example of what I mean. http://www.specialtybottle.com/amberpet ... sccap.aspx

lsg and Hazel - Thank you for your quick and very helpful replies to my questions.

Based on your advice, the sites to which you referred me have just what I need.

You know, I'm always surprised by the new sites that I learn about on this forum. I've done so many searches for containers and packaging I thought I'd seen most all of them. Then you direct me to ones that are totally new to me and that carry a great product selection. Guess it is a big 'net out there. :) That's why being able to learn from those with more experience is so valuable.

Thanks again.

I would do 1oz for the face oil and 4oz for the message oil
on the face oil I would use a dropper top
when I make message oils for personal use I buy those thinks you use on alcohol bottles to pour I find ones that have the little cap to seal it :)
