Are you talking about Carnauba wax, which is often referred to as palm wax since it comes from palm. Or do you mean palm wax used for candles?
As long as the supplier states that it can be used in cosmetics, it should be okay.

But palm wax is really, really hard so you'd have to do some experimenting to get it soft enough to melt on your skin.

My wife and I use palm wax for our candles so using it for lotion would be convenient. Does anyone know what additives we could use to soften it up?

For lotion bars, the general rule of thumb is 1/3 wax (assuming beeswax), 1/3 solid oil or butter, 1/3 liquid oil. Then tweak from there.
