Oooh post a pic so i know what you're talking about! You caught my interest I'm interested in formulating a beer shampoo recipe... Is moon shine too strong to go in a soap recipe?

I've been seeing these beer making kits in the stores - could I use that to create a beer soap?

TIA

Once your beer is ready, there's no reason why you couldn't.....just mix sure the beer is good and flat before you mix it with the lye.

My DH brews and creates beer, but not with a beer kit. We have found that homebrewing is not as inexpensive as it used to be, but for drinking...it ROCKS! It is also somewhat labor and time intensive. IMO, if you are going to use beer for soap, it is much more economical to buy it. However, brewing beer is also like the art of soapmaking in more ways than people would believe, so if you like good beer...go for it!!! Definitely flat, though.

I have been using my beer soap for my hair, and I LOVE it!

Good luck!

What I'm thinking is not totally making the beer, but rather using the hops and whatever else is in the beer, minus the yeast. Now I know nothing about drinking beer let alone making it (Long story short - I got REALLY drunk on beer when I was 12 - icckkkky).

But if that won't work then I'll just go buy some Guiness or a dark lager for my soap....

I think it would be a whole lot less trouble to just go get some from the store and let it stand until flat. :) Heck, even Lucky Lager would make a nice beer soap and that's dirt cheap!

I would definitely just go with the store-bought stuff if you are not going to drink it. Brewing beer takes A LOT of time, even if you don't use yeast. There is a lot of boiling involved, and I think the yeast adds yumminess to the overall product.

When I did my beer soap, I bought a six-pack of some local stuff on sale, which always have some interesting flavors to them. I made goatmilk oatmeal stout.

Yup - going to go to store to get beer - dark beer -

I was grocery shopping looking at all the cool stuff for soaping with when I spotted the kit! Ah well......

@SimplyE: That sounds like Samuel Adams, beer that is!

Mmmm!!! Love Sam Adams! This is coming from someone who hated beer until she tasted DH homebrews
