Anyone have a recipe for a baby wipe solution? My sister is very interested in going "green" with her new baby that is due to arrive any day, so I thought she would love these!

I would use reusable cloth for them (and would love recommendations on what to use too!)

Thanks a bunch!

Here are a few variations:

Baby Wash Recipe #1
2 TBSP Baby Wash
2 TBSP Olive Oil (or 1 TBSP mineral oil)
2 Cups (boiled) water

Baby Wash Recipe #2
2 TBSP Baby Wash
2 TBSP Olive Oil or 1 TBSP Calendula Oil
2 Drops Tea Tree Oil
2 Cups (boiled)Water

Aloe Vera Recipe
1/4 Cup Aloe Vera Gel
2 Drops Tea Tree Oil
2 Cups (boiled) Water

Vitamin E and Essential Oils Recipe
2 Drops Tea Tree Oil
2 Drops Lavender Oil
2 Drops Chamomile Oil
2 Cups (boiled)Water
1 Vitamin E Cap

The one thing I would recommend for sure is to stay away from fragrance oils. They can cause terrible irritation for newdelicate baby skin, or when applied to a red or chapped bottomi it would sting like fire.

Papertowels could be soaked in the solution or it can be spritzed on a cloth rag.

I just made some this morning . This is my recipe
1 cup of water (i boil it first or use distilled)
I tbs of castile soap (i use Vermont organics' Lemongrass zen, smells lovely)
1 tbs canola oil (or any veg oil)
2 drops lavender EO
2 drops tea tree EO.

Good luck!

I know this post is older, but I am wondering. I know this may sound horrible, but how do you recommend doing a 'patch test' on a baby? Can you put a drop of the tea tree oil into a carrier and see if baby has reaction to it? or is that not something to worry about?

A 'patchtest' is something that's best to perform with each product you buy/make for your baby.
You can as you say, make your product for a specific baby, and test each ingredient in a carrier oil, on a small part of the inside of baby's arm. rinse/leave on & wait for 24 hours. When no reaction occurs within 24 hours, it's likely to be fine.
I'd figure out the exact percentage you want to use in your product and stick with that during your test.
Or just make the product you intended to make with the least possible known irritants.
Of course your aware baby's skin is not complete 'till the age of 5 & needs to be handled with care

I'm with the others and don't add scent or colouring for baby products. My baby soaps are castille because that's as gentle as I can get - I think.

hey Lindy
It might be that I dind't understand correctly, but I thought Healinya was asking wether or not to test ingredients, like lavender & tea tree oil in the above baby wipe recipes.
In these recipes the EO's don't have much of a scent purpose, but are used because of their healing/antiseptic properties.
For some baby's EO's work, for some not.
It would be best not to even use pure castille soap before 6 months; as there is hardly any tallow production it's better to use a bath oil.
I must say, 2 of my friends gave birth the last 2 weeks; and it's amazing & terrifying at the same time how much chemical stuff & scenting is used in the average baby product...
Planning on making little Domenique & Brandi some goodies next week :D
