my dh just spoke to someone that has lived there and she told my DH that there are a lot of hispanic families moving there and that there is a lot of growth and need for people to work. the lady is a big time layer and seemed to know what she was talking about. so now we are thinking about maybe moving there. dh is going to call the lady and speak to her some more about it and get more info but in the meantime, i thought i'd ask y'all about it.
is there really that much growth there? how is the job demand there?

Krissy - right now Australia is coming through the GFC just like everywhere. Job security is great one week and gone the next. My DH and I run a small owner-builder company and we are just managing to put food on the table and pay the mortgage atm. I am sure we are no worse than many places and better than some right now.

If you really want to make a decision to move to the other side of the world, continue to educate yourself on the pros and cons (as you are already doing by asking this question :) ) - don't rely on one person's opinion. Look at what you can offer an employer and research that market - perhaps online is a great place to start. The kind of climate you prefer is also important. Tropical, sub tropical, temperate, etc - do you like it warm and dry, or cool and moist? Australia has got the lot - depending where you live! We are a large land mass with a relatively small population, but this is because most of the arable land is around the edges, so that is where the population concentration is.

I love it here and this is all imho only.

Tanya :)
