I've seen recipes/tutorials on the internet.
Seems most are 1/3 wax, 1/3 soft oil and 1/3 essential oil. Can I use fragrance oils instead?
They look so easy otherwise, I'd love to try 'em!

yep, just be sure to limit the use level to the amount your supplier tells you is safe for a leave on product.

sadly, there are no rules for EOs - tho there are IFRA guidelines, so if you use them do some real research.

Ok, carebear, will do thank you. I did not realize there are no guidelines for eo's. That strikes me as very odd!

Saltydog - EO are basically over the counter drugs At 3% they are at therapeutic levels for elders, children and people with compromised immune systems. 5% is therapeutic for the average adult.

For a leave-on product you should be under 3%. If you so some research on aromatherapy and essential oils you will find the guideline. Even Lavender undiluted will melt through some plastic and Styrofoam. And that is the one essential oils that is considered safe on skin undiluted.

Cheers

Thank you, Lindy.
Yes, after some reading I decided to keep it under 3%, but I was wondering about using fragrance oil instead of essential oils?
My google search didn't turn up much, I am just going by the suppliers recommendation for percentages in lotion/body butter. I thought perhaps someone on here had tried a solid perfume at some point.
