Anyone made soaps for dogs

I want to make a soap for my dog that is fragrance free. I like making lard soaps and would love to use this on my dog, but my fear is he'll lick himself to death trying to slurp up the residual animal scent. Anyone had any experience with this?

There have been quite a few threads in the recipe sections - dog shampoo and so on. I would take a look there as they had a lot of replies

TEG is correct. There are lots of threads about soaps for dogs. However, (and I could be wrong about this as I did not go back and reread them) I don't recall any addressing the scent "problem" you referred to. I have not found this to be a problem. Though my recipe did not include lard only, it did include both lard and tallow. Of course dogs lick themselves after a bath. It's what dogs do. But it is not any more than with a commercial syndet, And frankly I'd rather have them licking themselves after bathing with my soap than the syndet.
