I would like to try this, replacing all the water for oat milk or coconut water which I found in my local health food shop. What have your experiences been?

Haven't tried oat milk, but coconut milk is quite popular here. Treat it as water, not milk. Use as all of the water in a recipe, or make the lye up with half the water amount, and use coconut milk for the other half. You can add it to the lye water or to the oils. Works great!

I saw coconut water for the first time in the store today. Got my brain thinking about that one. I was thinking a "coconut" soap with coconut milk, coconut water and a little dried coconut on top for decoration.

I've usually made my own oat milk and have always used it in my CP soap. I also have used it in lotions, but if you do make sure to use preservative in your lotion.

Oat milk makes a wonderful bar of soap.

I agree with Meadowyck. I have made oat milk soaps often and they are really nice! I was going to try coconut milk this week.

Soap lady, doesn't the coconut milk burn like goat milk? I thought it did

Just found the answer to that on the other thread. I wonder why I thought it needed to be frozen..

when i used coconut milk i put it in the freezer til it got slushy. i just figured since it was a milk it should be frozen

Yes, I talk heated distilled water and pour it over my oats that are in a strainer sitting over a pan. I leave the strainer sitting in the heated water for about 20-30 minutes, come over left out the oats and use the water.

Warning, sometimes the oat milk will become very thick when you pour you lye in but just keep string and it will loosen up. Sometimes this doesn't happen so I just wanted to warn ya so should you give this a try you didn't think you had something wrong....

Enjoy, believe me once you make soap with this method you will never just use water for your liquid again....LOL

coconut milk and coconut water are 2 different substances sorta.

many people love coconut milk and you can use it in many ways.
Used as 1 to 100% of water for lye
used as an additive in pre-mixed oils
used as an additive at trace
used as an additive after the cook of HP soap
used as coconut milk powder
frozen and added with lye solution directly
very versatile

I have no idea how coconut water would act but it's a cool idea.

Coconut water or rather it is the juice of the coconut. It has many of the same wonderful benefits as Oat Milk does.

Use it in place of water with your lye.

Thanks. We are lucky here in OZ, so many excellent soap making ingredients that are easy to find & cheap. Oat milk is sold in the health food section of the supermarket, together with rice milk and both are super cheap.
