Anyone tried the San Francisco Herb Company's products? sfherb dot com

They've got a pretty good price on lavender buds, and some pretty sweet looking other stuff, as well.

not really marketed towards soap, but a pound of #1 lavender buds for like 9 bucks, 2 pounds of kelp powder for 2.50

What do you use kepl powder for?

I buy most of my basic EOs and lavender buds and stuff from a spice company. Atlantic Spice Company. I have compared their peppermint and lavender EO, and they are far superior to others I have smelled. You might find the same thing with the herb store.

i haven't used kelp powder, myself. however, i was thinking of making a seaweed bar, so that would be the ideal additive, as it is seaweed :p (I'm sure most know that, but maybe someone didn't)

 Be sure to use only a little! My little experiment (salt bars with a bit of ground up seaweed) ended up in the bin... Seized immediatly and I couldn't stand the smell. Wish I didn't toss it, cause it would have easily won the ugliest soap contest

I've been ordering cooking herbs from them since the late 1980's. Marvelous company. Atlantic Spice is their east coast sister company.

I have friends who love kelp sprinkled as seasoning over salads - much better use if you ask me ;)

 You're right... I learned to only use seaweed when making sushi or asian salads :p

I like a little bit of ground nori in seeweed soap. It doesn't have the 'fishy' smell of kelp.

Ditto ! There is nothing quite like the scent of kelp in cp soap , it is not a good thing .

well, maybe i'll save the seaweed soap for later

i found them while looking for some lavender buds.

ended up buying some off ebay. 13 cups (which from my estimation, would be about 3/4 pound) for 12.50 shipped.

not sure if that's the best deal around, but i thought it was reasonable. it was from a gal (or, guess it could be a guy) who is all about lavender. Once I get them, I'll give a smell report and shoot a pic of what i got.

i don't know what calendula normally goes for, as i haven't worked with that yet, but it seemed like sfh had a pretty good price on whole calendula

thanks, guys
