That looks beautiful! I have yet to use micas for colouring, other than brushing onto a finished bar of soap that is

I have been given some tips from a long-time CP soaper regarding using mica in soap and one way to get a possible glittery effect is to mix enough mica into a small amount of your batter and drizzle over the top of your moulded batch - should be interesting to try!

Hi Tanya. :) How does the brushing work?

I used one of my children's small paint brushes and gently dipped the tips of the bristles in my little vial of mica, tapped off the excess - carefully! - and just brushed on the surface. A little goes a long way :D

Topcat, do you have to seal the mica with anything? or do you do it when your soap is still a little soft? What stops it from brushing off onto everything?

Hi ChrissyB, I did it after the soap was unmoulded - about 3 days old. It is just sitting on top, but sort of rubbed in (...does that make sense?) you could rub or wipe it off if you tried hard enough but it stays okay as it is. I have heard you can give the soap a spray of hair spray to set it better. This is only for effect and will wash off with the first use.

I am goin to try another idea for a slightly longer lasting mica effect on top - you mix your mica into some raw uncoloured soap batter and pour on the rest of the soap batch once it is in the mould. This is supposed to still give a sparkly effect (if you use enough mica  )

Here is a pic of my Strawberries & Champagne batch. I am beginning to think the mica's do the best coloring. Does anyone else feel that way?

Oooh! That is one purty soap! Very nice peaks and color distribution. Love it!
