I should have asked this BEFORE I made my first batch  however that's over and done, and I need to re-think this. I Love, Love, Love the lemongrass smell, and the local health food store carries lemongrass eo at what I consider a reasonable price. The only soap recipes I have seen have called for FO, however I know I have purchased soap with EO in it, so I figured I would give it a go. Ooops!!!!! They are so STRONG. I feel I will never get the lemongrass scent out of my head.

The recipes I saw all called for 2 oz of fo for a 56 oz (finished) batch of soap. The eo I bought was .5 oz, and I used probably around 20 drops - WAY under the .5 size.

So - to make a long story short  how much eo do you use for a batch of soap around that size?

Oh, PS - I am probably about the longest-winded person you have ever met - if you want the short of it (rather than the whole story), just read what I put in bold

I made a lemongrass soap and used 1TBSP for a 2oz batch, my house smelt for days... I even put my soap in a cupboard to cure. But the scent faded after a few weeks. :(

I've been reading a lot about lemongrass fading but it doesnt' for me.
then again, I soap at one ounce per pound of oils,

i also love lemongrass, but it is expensive, try newdirections, i think you can get 30z for 8$, way less than health store, i also made a batch with not enough scent, the next one i added real eo lemongrass and also added a fo lemongrass(millcreek), then it was good. Maybe try hp, you would use less and it stays better?
