Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a recipe to make a lotion bar or cream with aloe, and other ingredients, that would be refreshing after a day in the sun and wind. I don't want to use any beeswax or soy in it or for it to be greasy and to just have a light fragrance appropriate for a man or woman.
I'm making it for a skiiing friend.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can tweak one of your lotion bar or cream recipes to make what you want. Just use nourishing oils and add aloe.

Although, I don't think you want to add too much aloe because I believe it can cause problems with the efficacy of your preservative.

eta: You may not want to add a FO since it could be irritating to wind or sun burnt skin.

Good point but she can still use aloe in a cream. I have and it worked out great.
That's true. You can use aloe in a cream with an emulsifier and a preservative.

That's if she has emulsifier and is comfortable with making creams. If not, she may have to use aloe butter in a bar. That might be easier.

I don't think it's safe using aloe in a lotion bar. Aloe butter is a different story. When she mentioned aloe, I presumed it was plain aloe, which is water soluble.

Yes, but as you mentioned earlier, she couldn't use aloe in a lotion bar. I wasn't thinking it through and didn't stop to consider that aloe is always added in the water phase. It's a good thing you pointed that out.

I've never used aloe butter but I have been looking at this one.

Right now, I don't have the money to buy it but I think it would be great in a balm or cream. I don't make lotion bars anymore because I don't care for them. I'm too impatient. I just want to smear the stuff on and go.
