Hi all. I have been working with recipes found and double-checked through the MMS or SoapCalc lye calcs. However, I have no real "base" soap to use as my standard. I think it's time I create or find a good base to go from instead of all this tinkering with varying recipes. The tinkering comes with lots of practice using a standard, right?
That said, do either of these sound like a good bar of soap?
Scenario #1
Hardness: 59
Cleansing: 34
Condition: 35
Bubbly Lather: 38
Creamy Lather: 29
Iodine: 36
INS: 163
Castor Oil: 5%
Mango Butter: 5%
Palm Oil: 35%
Palm Kernel: 55%
Water as 38% of oils
Water: Lye ratio= 2.56:1
I want a hard bar that will last but not be caustic on the skin. I also am not a huge fan of lots of olive oil (smell and discoloration of bars).
Scenario #2
Hardness: 53
Cleansing: 26
Condition: 32
Bubbly Lather: 26
Creamy Lather: 28
Iodine: 42
INS: 168
Coconut Oil: 20%
Mango Butter: 20%
Palm Oil: 20%
Palm Kernel: 20%
Olive: 20%
Water as 38% of oils
Water: Lye ratio= 2.64:1
Each recipe is superfatted to 7%
I know I could just get a standard recipe, but this is part of the fun, right?
Thanks! Jen
