I'm new to soap making. When a recipe calls for calendula petals (or other petals/herbs) are they usually dried or fresh? Also looking for additives (texture and color) to go with a lavender scented soap. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Poppyseeds look really good with lavender. Some people don't like them though because they can be a bit scratchy. Oats are nice too.

I'm not sure about the petals, I would think that dried would be better as it would be less prone to mould, but then soap has water in it anyway... so I'm not sure, never used petals before.

dry

it needs to be dry. if not will not set right and finally mold. Hope your soaps turn out great.
