Iam adding fos to base lotion(wsp) iam mixing with a stick and a few days later it is not mixed, what do i do to make it stay mixed? also, it kinda melted a plastic bottle where the fo sat! fos are that strong?

I suggest pouring the lotion into ziplock bags, adding the fo & squishing it around real good. You can nip the corner of the bag & then pipe it into your bottles like youdo with cake frosting.

Are you using too much fo?

Yes, full strength it does eat through plastic, that is why it says do not apply directly to skin.

Oh gee! That's a lot. It takes much less fo for leave on products than wash off products. Bittercreek suggest using 1/2 to 1oz of fo per gallon of base.

Let's figure this out at the high end, 1oz per gallon.

There are 128oz in a gallon. There are 6 tspn in an oz. Let's see if I can do the math...A tspn should scent approx 22oz of product, that wold be 5 1/2 4oz bottles or jars.

I use between 1/4 & 1/2 tsp per 8oz and it ends up pretty strong.

I use 1% fo in my lotion. So for 4oz that is like 1.18 ml. WSP has a great batch size calculator to get measurements. But I did buy some crappy Pure Grace fo from thecommonscents that I have to add at 3%. It all depends on how much your base can hold, and how strong the fo is. I also just put the lotion base in a ziploc, add the fo, than squish it around for a while. Snip off the corner and squeeze it into the bottle. :)

I do 1% - so you are going to need to do some math and have a fairly accurate way to measure.

1% of 4 oz (by weight) is :

.01 X 4 = .04 oz FO

OR in metric - 4 oz X 28.35 grams/ oz = 113.4 grams
.01 X 113.4 = 1.134 grams FO (round to 1.1 grams or 1 gram)

teaspoon is volume and is ABOUT 5 grams, so in 4 oz you have almost 5% FO. How high you CAN go with it is limited by the makeup of the FO, but you shouldn't need to go that high.
