Adding a preservative to an already made body wash.

I purchased a few homemade body washes, and I see now that I'm learning about soap making that they don't have preservatives in them. I don't want to weigh in on the debate but for personal reasons, I'd feel more comfortable if they had preservatives in them. Is there a way I can add it myself? I have some optiphen on the way, can I just simply add the correct amount (and how do I determine what that is?) Or does it need added in a step that is impossible to undo. Thanks everyone!

I always add a preservative to any product that contains water. I use liquid Germall Plus. "Optiphen is suitable for formulations and emulsions, such as creams, lotion, salves and body butters. "

Thank you I just bought some LEUCIDAL® it is a natural preservative . I prefer to use paraben free preservatives.
