Hi All,
I'm pretty new to this, but started making some tallow/olive/oil/castor oil shampoo bars and added my measurements wrong. Long story short -I added 1 ounce too much of lye to my water, heated my oil added my lye water, put my soap into molds, cut it - then realized OH NO too much lye. My question is; can I melt down these bars and add more oil (in slow cooker) and redo these bars. It has been two weeks, so they are still curing. So sad to waste it all. According to the fat to lye calculators I'm finding I just need to add 8 ounces of olive oil and one ounce of water.. to make the ratio correct. Any tips or info on doing this correctly would be so helpful. I'm not too savvy in the chemistry department,, so anything to watch out for in the reheating process, when to add the extra oil or water etc.. any tips.
