Hello soapers...

I have made a coconut milk batch three days ago. I didn't mix CM with lye. I pour Cm to the oils before I pour lye. I love that way, no bad smell. My CM batch was very good so I could cut after 24 hrs.

Next time, I want to make another batch and add liquid ingredient beside water, again. My question is, if I will make a coffee or tea batch, should I pour it to oils before I pour lye, or just replace the water with coffee or tea water to dissolve lye?

I freeze my leftover coffee for soap. I also freeze teas for soap. I then add the lye to the frozen liquid. I am really happy with how the coffee did, but disappointed that the tea lost it's color and all scent. I won't be making tea soap again.

I just add my lye to very cold tea, coffee or beer. I don't freeze them. Just add the lye slowly and never have a problem. Milks I add to my oils, I also add milk powder to bring it up to full milk.

I do that too. When I use milks, though, I add them at trace as half my liquid.

Frozen milk from ice cube trays has always worked well for me - helps keep the overheating to a minimum ;)

Susie, I boiled up a generous amt. of fresh stinging nettle in my water then let it sit for AGES ....it becomes a darker green. Then added the lye and tea tree EO. I got a lovely limey-green colour! Hope this helps....OH! If you try it please don't forget your thick gloves!! Don't forget to re-weigh your water....it does evaporate......good luck
