Went shopping last night with DD to a mall that is a bit out of my way. Have read both yea and nay about LUSH and thought I would share my first experience and impressions.

Very bright and colorful. Two young salespeople who were both very perky and friendly welcomed me. I told them that I made my own cp soap and while they didn't seem to know exactly what that meant invited me to try a sample.

Asked what kind of fragrance I liked and then filled a soap pot with warm water and put a gi-normous lemongrass bath bomb in the water. Then she put a small piece of lavender? bubble bar in as well.

A+ for customer service. They probably figured that I wasn't going to buy anything, but gave me a catalog and thanked me for visiting.

Is this typical or am I just "special" ?

DD thought that my hands smelled like I had been washing the dishes too long! I did smell a few bars, but nothing really jumped out at me.

Got me thinking though, for any of us who make anything that bubbles or fizzes, it would be fun to be able to demo for potential customers. I guess the down side is the expense. (I think the bath ball was around $6.75.

That is a great idea to show shoppers what the product does .

If you could make small demo bath bombs , you could let people try them , they are very inexpensive to make . I know soapers that have basins of water ( some pretty elaborate ) at shows etc for people to try out their soap.

while i've never been there, i would assume you are not the exception. i've known people that have shopped there and have gotten great service, too.

while expensive, imo, they've got awesome stuff (verified by the fact that there are so many dupes of their products). if only we all were so good to have some people wanting to copy us :)

It amazes me that they have such a large following among the 18-30 year olds.Youtube is full of young ladies giving you a look at their new lush soaps etc and doing reviews on their products. They send all over the world for their soaps and have collections of them.Oh to have money to spend like that.

I didn't realize the youtube connection. I'll have to take a look. I would love to have that kind of disposable income as well!

HAULS

They are called, "LUSH HAULS". There are dozens of these HAULS on YouTube. It's a trend. These reviewers provide feedback on their product hauls for all types of products, not just LUSH. They are interesting. There is a hugs focus on scent rather than the properties of the base oils. Maybe you will notice otherwise if you watch them, but that is what I noticed.

Some reviewers talk about ETSY soap hauls also. I prefer these.

Watching the YouTube reviews is a very good way to learn what your potential market might like.
